Armenian Genocide

The genocide I chose was the Armenian Genocide. This genocide was between the Armenians and the Turks. This was the start genocide of the 20th century. The word genocide did non pull by dint of in 1915 when the Armenians were being massacred and forced on death marches. The border genocide was made up by Raphael Lemkin in 1943. In April of 1915, the Ottoman government started the killings of the civilian Armenian population. In 1915, the Armenian population of the Ottoman State was reported at vulgar two million. An estimated one million had perished by 1918, while others had sour homeless and stateless refugees. By 1923, nearly the whole pricey Armenian population disappeared. Armenians were killed by Muslim Turkey in the inhumane, evil and brutal ways. Infants were thrown in rivers or caught by a spear. Pregnant women had their bellies sliced opened to determine the ask of the unborn child. Church leaders were locked in churches and burned alive. Armenians that w ere non killed were put on a death march without keep or anything to eat through the mountains and deserts. Most people died on the death marches. The people that survived had to march to the south, where it was even hotter and eventually died because of no food and water.

I believe this genocide occurred because the Armenians were Christian and the Turks sound Islam, so they discriminated against Non-Islams. Before the genocide occurred the Armenians had to pay discriminatory taxes and were denied on any participation in the government. Another reason I believe this event occurred was because the Turks penuryed the Armenians trim ba ck.
